Such notions as a relationship between time and timelessness will sound dangerous to the purely rational scientist, and the reason for his or her fear, is straightforward. If you are examining the physical and spatial cosmos, science has discovered the tools for evidence based conclusions derived from repeatable experimentation that verifies testable hypotheses. Excellent for our temporal spatial cosmos, but not applicable for the examination of the non-temporal cosmos! Yes there will be common tools for examination, for example the application of logic; however repeatable experimentation is only effective when applied to the physical cosmos. We need different diagnostic tools for examining the non-temporal cosmos. It is probably best to start by seeking to examine the possible relationship between the two entities of time and timelessness and then to seek how we might be able to examine timelessness (in this order, simply because we live in time and so that is something we think we know). So, other than pure logic, what other tools might be useful for examining the relationship of timelessness with time? One possible area of enquiry could be the examination of time related records – e.g. historical records. An argument against this possible tool, would be that historical records only show a time based sequence of events and so can’t show any relationship with a timeless cosmos. And further how would you use historical records to examine a timeless dimension in a way that avoids circularity? However the weakness in that argument is that stating that ‘historical records only show a time based sequence’ is in reality an unproved claim and further if timelessness does interact in someway with time then it would be logical to expect to be able to find something in the passage of time that shows a relationship with timelessness. Avoiding circularity will be an obvious pitfall, but should not discourage the quest!
Reflections mainly related to basic truth about the natural and supernatural world and the need for tolerance between people who percieve the light however weak their spiritual sight may be. I believe in God in whom all existence is maintained, and yet (as Christ) is ever present in the universe. God is good; God is sacrificial in love; the God Christ is revealed to humankind in Jesus Christ; God is both un-knowable, yet willing to indwell all who want to reflect God's character.

The relationship between time and timelessness - Part 2
